Lytro’s New Digital Camera

Lytro is a technology company with 50 million worth of VC funding and all with good reason.  According to reports, Lytro has developed a camera that could possibility revolutionize the world of photography.  For those that are seasonal and even amateur photographers, one of the common tasks is getting the right thing in focus when taking picture.  However, what if i told you that it didn’t matter whether your subject was in focus at the time of taking the picture?  What if I told you focus could be altered with little or no effect afterwards?  you would probably say that even if I could do it the photograph would display obvious markings and traces of visual editing.  And to that I would reply, maybe 2 years ago, but no longer given the new technology of Lytro.  Lytro has given photographers the ability to shoot now and focus later!  Hard to believe right! Well believe it, their technology in lamen’s terms allows you to adjust the focus the image that you shot well after the shot.  I found this concept hard to grasp given some major technicalities such as light exposure among many other things.  What I found being the easiest explanation was the image and giving some foundation for belief was the demo given at NY TIMES.  Believe it or not its some interesting that sounds to be well on its way.  Photographers beware life is about to get easier.

Samsung Galaxy Tablet, is the New Ipad Killer?

When you mention tablets it almost seems as if the category encompasses everyone but Ipads.  Individuals seem to view the Ipad as being in a league of its own and everyone else is fighting for second place.  However, the Samsung Galaxy Tablet might be the tablet that changes the perception of the masses.  Boasting of a 10.1 in Display size (.4in bigger than the ipad2) and a price point that is certain to have many users second guessing their Ipad purchase, the galaxy tablet is poised to to become a formidable foe.  For many the app store has been one of their biggest motivators for purchasing an Ipad, as user you want the biggest bang for your buck.  This has always been a big debate with our team of techies does more apps equate to bigger bang for you buck or does the hardware and share power behind he system warrant an argument for being a better bang for your buck?  For the purpose of this review we have taken the stance of arguing the facts (the value of an app can be very relative depending on the individual).  For ease of comparison we have designed a table that puts the Ipad and Galaxy Tablet headed to in analysis of which we allow you to choose (via commenting below) which one you think is best.

 source of table

Without skewing the thought process of your decision, after looking at the specs side by side, I can’t help but feel that the next time I purchase a table the choice will not be as clear cut as it was a few month ago.
